California issues and Trends program The primary vehicle for providing education about California to rising women leaders is the California Issues and Trends Program (CIT). Conducted quarterly at sessions around the state, this unique, issues-based program exposes participants to diverse perspectives and points of view relating to issues facing California and provides understanding for approaches beyond their own disciplines and areas of expertise. Participants hear from experts on subjects such as changing demographics, economic development, education, housing and health care challenges. They discuss the implications for organizational development, business and community leadership, and personal and professional development. They also meet at the California State Capitol where they have the opportunity to speak with policy makers. They visit community organizations to experience firsthand the results of successful public/private partnerships.
The program is structured in four, two-and-one-half-day sessions in different locations across the state. 2008 California Issues and Trends Program sessions are as follows:

In a variety of ways, Leadership California supports a regional network across California of its CIT Alumnae and other women leaders in California. Programs focus on updating CIT Alumnae on California Issues and Trends. We do this through special meetings of Alumnae with their state legislators in the local districts, and through sessions that enable the rich exchange of information and ideas among the more than 1,000 CIT Alumnae from the public and private sectors. These forums link CIT Alumnae to leadership opportunities at the local, regional and state levels. Leadership California’s women leaders are poised to have an impact on the critical issues facing our state through service on nonprofit organization boards and public entity boards and commissions. |
