Alumnae of the California Issues and Trends Program (CIT) become members of the California Women’s Leadership Forum. It is composed of CIT’s more than 1,000 graduates and other women leaders across the state and country who support Leadership California.

Cathleen Greiner
President, Leadership California Board

Cathleen, an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc., has a long career in education and higher education with expertise in leadership, administration and management, institutional research, assessment and strategic planning, academic policy research and analysis, teaching and coursework, and program review and development. As an educational leader, her professional interests include the future of and changes in higher education, institutional review and academic quality assessment, and the globalization of learning and information.

 

Dorothy Farris
Immediate Past President, Leadership California Board

Recognized for her high-tech industry knowledge, strategic insight and breadth of management experience, Dorothy Cole Farris has held national and international responsibilities at Fortune 500 companies as well as startup organizations. Currently, she is Vice President of Strategic Sales for Wyse Technology Inc, the leader in thin computing. Prior to returning to Wyse, she served as Vice President Sales Americas for ViewSonic Corporation, a leader in computer monitor and television products. In this senior position, Dorothy created and implemented sales strategies across North and South America resulting in sales in excess of $750 million.

Prior to joining ViewSonic Corporation, Dorothy was Vice President, Channel Sales for North and South America for Wyse Technology, Inc, She has served in senior sales and marketing positions with companies such as IBM, HP/Compaq, Epson America, Allied Signal and Futurelink.

Dorothy has been recognized with numerous awards such as "Manager of the Year"; recipient of the "Outstanding Achievement Award" as well as being credited with designing and implementing the first variable compensation plan of its kind in the aerospace industry. She was also recognized by Fortune magazine as a "super, savvy sales professional". Believing that skill sets are transferable, she has coached and counseled other women to "take the leap"; and thus has had a rich and varied career.

Currently, Dorothy is serving as President of the Board of Directors of Leadership California and serves on the National Advisory Panel of the Women’s Museum. She is also a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.

Debbie Manning
Vice President, Leadership California Board

Debbie serves as Deputy Chief Senate Sergeant at Arms, the first woman to hold the position. Holding several certificates in Law Enforcement Management, Debbie currently serves as Vice President of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals. She is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, majoring in Political Science, with a minor in Public Service/Administration.

Chris Coats
Treasurer, Leadership California Board

Chris is currently Director of Business Operations for Symantec. She was previously Division Controller at the Silicon Valley Development Lab for IBM in San Jose. At IBM, Chris’ responsibilities for Information Management included monthly measurement reporting, WW capital and royalty planning, business controls and financial systems. Chris managed six business planning direct reports and an expense controller with a team of 14 financial analysts.

Cindi Anderson

Cindi Anderson, CLU, is an Agency Field Executive for State Farm Insurance in San Francisco.  In this leadership position, she oversees 50 independent contractor agents as well as the team of people who support them.  Cindi began her career with State Farm as an agent in Sunnyvale, California.  From 1983 until 1995, she successfully built an agency from scratch into a thriving business. During that time she was a consistent qualifier for high-level award programs and earned recognition in both profit and top sales.  In 1995, Cindi was recruited as an Agency Field Consultant and promoted to her current position of Agency Field Executive in 1998. During this time she earned her CLU designation from the American College, completed the performance leadership class at Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia and is a graduate of Leadership California Annual Issues program class of 2003.

Cindi feels so blessed to live in Redwood City with her husband and the younger of their two children.  Her oldest child has graduated from college and is now making her way in the world. Also residing in the Anderson household is a precocious Olde English bulldog.

Lucy Armendariz

Judge Lucy Armendariz serves on the State Bar Court as a hearing judge. Prior to this appointment, she was chief of staff to California State Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero.

Prior to joining the State Senate, Lucy worked as an attorney with the law firm Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe, as an ombudsman with the California Department of Corrections, and as Counsel to the Assembly Committee on Public Safety.

Lucy's life story is one of inspiration and remarkable accomplishments in spite of overwhelming odds. Despite growing up in foster homes, she focused on her education, taking advantage of every opportunity available to her. She excelled academically and continued her education at the University of California at Los Angeles, ultimately earning her law degree and becoming an attorney.  Lucy is a single mother who currently resides in Los Angeles with her daughter Jourdan.

Elmy Bermejo

Elmy Bermejo has been dedicated to public service for more than 20 years and has worked in different parts of California and in Washington D.C. She is deputy secretary of State and Consumer Services for California. Elmy was special assistant to Senator Don Perata, working on issues that impact women and children, outreach to the Latino/Latina community and work with the ethnic media. Elmy is Chair of the State Commission on the Status of Women. She was appointed to the Commission by Governor Gray Davis in 1999. She was also appointed by the Governor to the California Complete Count Committee for Census 2000. As a board member of HOPE (Hispanas Organized for Political Equality) Elmy chaired Latina Action Day in Sacramento. She has a BA in psychology and a graduate degree in Bilingual Vocational Counseling. Her family comes from Yucatan, Mexico and owns Tommy’s Mexican Restaurant, one of the most successful family operated restaurants in San Francisco.

Eleanor “Felicia” Brannon

Eleanor “Felicia” Brannon has served professionally in the field of Government/Community Relations for over 14 years in the nonprofit, public, private sectors, and academic sectors. Felicia has shared her knowledge with various nonprofit organizations such as the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce, Volunteer Center of Los Angeles, Opera Noir, Women’s Transportation Seminar, the Regional Advisory Council for the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), Sister Self and Habitat for Humanity—Los Angeles, just to name a few. 

Currently, Felicia is the Executive Director of Local Government and Community Relations with UCLA.  In this role she provides leadership to the office of External Affairs on issues concerning UCLA’s relationship with local government, neighborhood groups, homeowner associations, the Los Angeles Unified Board of Education, the Community College Board, and other local stakeholders in the greater Los Angeles community.  Felicia also provides community relations expertise to UCLA's senior leadership in Capital Programs in the areas of land use planning and campus neighborhood impacts.

Ms. Brannon received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from California State University Northridge, and her Masters degree in Public Administration.  She is an alumna of Leadership California’s California Issues & Trends Program and the Southern California Leadership Network.  For fun, she enjoys reading, hiking, and cooking.

Sascha Henry

Sascha is a partner at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP and is a member of the firm's Business Trial Practice Group, based in the firm's Los Angeles office. Specializing in complex business litigation, Sascha has experience representing businesses in a variety of disputes, including class actions. Most recently, she has focused on defending businesses against claims of unfair competition law violations under Section 17200 of the Business and Professions Code. She also has significant experience defending clients against claims of fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, and malicious prosecution. Her experience includes state and federal litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Sascha received her law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1997 and her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1994.

Yvette Herrera

With nearly 20 years of combined professional and volunteer experience in corporate marketing, non-profit administration and fundraising, Yvette founded HT Group in 2002.  She believes that the passion of non-profits and the best practices of corporations
should not be mutually exclusive. 

As Marketing Director for PricewaterhouseCoopers, and before that, as Communications Director of Internet company NetCount, Yvette specialized in developing strategic alliances and other innovative and resource-efficient ways to generate publicity and increase market share.  At United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Yvette worked closely with social service agencies in the San Fernando Valley, particularly those experiencing financial or leadership difficulties, spearheaded community outreach to the growing Asian Pacific community and coordinated grant distribution of over a million dollars. 

Yvette received her BA from Scripps College in Claremont, California. She was recognized as National Big Sister of the Year by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America in 1993 and as Scripps College Outstanding Recent Alumna in 2000. She is a graduate of Leadership California, Class of 1995 and earned a certificate from the UCLA Anderson School of Business, Price Entrepreneurial Center in 2007.  Yvette currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Burbank Community YMCA and Leadership California.

Kay Iwata

Since entering the diversity field in 1987, Kay has become an industry leader. Her clients include companies such as: Dell Inc., Johnsons & Johnson, Chevron-Texaco, Bank One, Honeywell and Abbott Labs. She brings an organizational development approach to the diversity change process. Her background has been in education, finance and management. Kay is also a charter member of the Diversity Collegium, a national diversity think tank. She serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership California and also as the Program Chair for the Board of Trustees for the Asian Pacific American Women’s Leadership Institute (APAWLI). Her book, The POWER of Diversity: 5 Essential Competencies for Leading a Diverse Workforce is based upon a first-of-its-kind field study to understand the "what, why and how" of diversity competence for managers and leaders.

Dana Kracke

Dana Kracke is the Director of the Revenue Services Organization in the Customer Service Business Unit of Southern California Edison.  She manages a multi-functional organization of approximately 400 employees. The organization issues over 50 million bills annually and manages various systems and processes to collect SCE’s annual revenue of approximately $10 billion.

Dana has had a variety of roles at multiple Edison companies, including executive positions at Southern California, Edison International, and Edison Mission Energy.  She has been responsible for managing groups and/or initiatives to develop corporate strategy, perform merger and acquisition analyses, integrate organizations following acquisition, achieve operational improvements, and address organizational issues. 

She began her Edison career in 1990 in SCE’s Treasurer Department’s Financial Planning and Analysis group.  She then moved to Edison International, with roles in New Business Development and Strategic Planning, and as Special Assistant to the EIX Management Committee.  She became Vice President of Strategic Planning for Edison Mission Energy, than returned to the utility as Director of Risk Control prior to assuming her current position as Director of Revenue Services. 

Dana earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and M.B.A. at University of California, Irvine.  Her academic focus has been in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies. 

Paula March

Paula is the Principal of Marchpartners, a fund development consulting group working with a wide variety of clients from the arts to social services. Educated at Santa Clara University, John F. Kennedy University and Fielding University, Paula has a Masters Degree in Museum Studies and is certified in Foundation Management. She served as Deputy Director for Marketing for the Fine Arts Museums and as Chief Development Officer for Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Paula recently served on the board of Leadership San Francisco, an affiliate of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce focusing on building community trusteeship, and is an active board member for the San Francisco Education Fund and Pocket Opera.

Michelle M. Mueller

Michelle M. Mueller is Vice President of Customer Services & Operations – Mass Markets for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas), Sempra Energy’s California regulated utilities.

Prior to her current position, Michelle was Director of Customer Service for SDG&E and SoCalGas, where she managed the commercial and industrial customer service department. In this role she led the creation and implementation of business customer service and outreach programs during the energy crisis. Prior to joining SDG&E in 1999, she held customer service, marketing and administration leadership positions at QUALCOMM Wireless Systems, a global company developing interactive wireless technologies.

Additionally, Michelle has taught marketing at several California universities including the University of California at San Diego, San Diego State University and California State University, San Marcos. She has received the Public Relations Society of America Outstanding PR Professional Award, The YMCA Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) Award and others. She serves on the board of Leadership California. Mueller has an MBA in marketing from Syracuse University, a master’s degree in mass communications from Morehead State University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Eastern Michigan University.

Susan Muranishi

Susan Shirasawa Muranishi was appointed as the County Administrator of Alameda County by the Board of Supervisors in December 1995 and is responsible for managing a large urban county, similar to a Fortune 500 company with 9,000 County employees, with a budget of almost $2.3 billion and population of 1.5 million. Susan is the first woman to be appointed as County Administrator in Alameda County and was the first Asian-American woman County Administrator in the State.

Prior to her appointment, Susan served as the Assistant County Administrator. Susan provides professional, innovative and proactive leadership through responsible fiscal and administrative policy development and program oversight.

Susan is a strong supporter and active member of several diverse
community, school and non-profit organizations including: Safe Passages/Youth Ventures Joint Powers Authority; Founding Member, California Asian Public Administrators Network and Caucus of Elected Asians (PANACEA); Executive Committee, East Bay Economic Development Alliance; County Administrative Officers Association of California; Government Finance Officers Association; International City/County Management Association, Leadership California, Heads-Up and others.

Susan graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. She and her husband live in Oakland, California and have two sons.

Cynthia Teniente-Matson

Cynthia has broad experience in university business, administrative and financial matters, serves as the CSU Fresno Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer. She is responsible for policy development, planning and providing leadership for the areas of accounting, financial management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget, information technology services, campus information services, human resources (excluding faculty contracts), plant operations, facilities planning, real estate development and public safety and utility management.

Cynthia served previously as Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services at the University of Alaska Anchorage for three years. She started her career with the university in Fairbanks and moved to the Anchorage campus in 1991, moving up through the ranks to Director of Procurement and Business Services. She was named Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget and Finance in 1998 and Vice Chancellor in May 2000.

Nancy Kim Yun

Nancy is currently the Director of Integrated Shipboard Systems (ISS) at Boeing, where she is responsible for Navigation Programs, Payloads and Sensors, and Naval C4I pursuits for U.S. and abroad.  Additionally, ISS is charged with developing the next generation Fiber Optic Gyro Navigation System to take the current Fleet of SSBN’s to 2046.

Prior to the current assignment, Nancy was the Director of Business Development and Advanced Systems.  Nancy was responsible for domestic and international marketing, research and development and strategic development.  

Before joining Boeing, Nancy spent several years as a strategy consultant for the Fortune 200 companies.  Nancy started out her career in software engineering and managed USAF's strategic programs.

Nancy received her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from University of California, Irvine (Cum Laude) and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.

Nancy is a resident of Seal Beach, California. She lives with her husband and their three children.

Pamela Hemann, CAE
Executive Director

Pamela Hemann, CAE has served as Executive Director of Leadership California since 1999. She has been involved with the organization since 1992, and participated in the launch of the first California Issues and Trends Program. During her service as executive director, Leadership California has expanded its outreach and fundraising efforts, launched the California Women’s Leadership Forum, and re-established the Annual Awards Dinner. Prior to Leadership California, Pam held positions with trade associations and professional societies in Washington, D.C. She is a Certified Association Executive and chair of the American Society of Association Executives. In her community, she is immediate past president of the Pasadena Center Operation Company and a former board member of the Pasadena Pops Orchestra. She holds degrees from the University of Denver and the University of Nebraska.

Mary O’Hara-Devereaux. Ph.D.
Emerging Strategies Partner

Mary O’Hara-Devereaux is an internationally known futurist and the author of several books including Navigating the Badlands: Thriving in this Decade of Radical Transformation. A highly respected strategic consultant and speaker, Mary specializes in providing long-term forecasts, strategy and innovation support to senior executives in the private and public sectors. She is founder and CEO of Global Foresight, a “think tank” in San Francisco. She holds degrees from the University of Michigan, University of California and the Fielding Graduate University. She is currently a Professor at Peking University in Beijing.

Carol Caley

Carol Caley is the Marketing Director of Leadership California, and brings to the organization her background in creative marketing communications and branding for businesses and institutions. She has developed branding identities, presentation materials, publications and advertising for numerous organizations and for clients in the energy, biomedical, health, food and women's markets.

Carol is an executive board member of Women in Design-LA where she has planned events including portfolio reviews, gallery shows, and design business programs. She taught graphic design at Pasadena City College and Mt. Sierra College, and serves on their Digital Media Advisory Boards. Carol served on the executive board of the National Association of Women Business Owners-Los Angeles. Articles about her unique creative studio have been published in the Los Angeles Times and Wells Fargo’s Business magazine.

Yvette Dominguez

Ms. Dominguez has served Leadership California since 1997 in administrative and information management positions. Her special capabilities are in communications, current class and graduate relations, and assisting with many facets of the California Issues and Trends Program. She completed her degree at California State University at Los Angeles in educational development in 1999.
