Lynda Ziegler, Southern California Edison Executive Vice President, Power Delivery, will accept the Corporate Leader Award on behalf of Edison International at the Legacy of Leadership Awards on May 2 in Los Angeles.

 

When we flip a switch, we don’t think much about what it takes to bring electric power to the people. Lynda Ziegler, Executive Vice President, Power Delivery Services at Southern California Edison, spends just about all of her time at SCE thinking about that.

Lynda celebrated her 30th anniversary with SCE in January, and 2011 is SCE’s 125th anniversary. Not many companies have been around for 125 years.

So much has changed during those 30 years. EIX chairman and CEO Ted Craver likes to say that the next 10 years are likely to see more change in the electricity industry than the last century. The company’s experience is now being brought to bear on the work being done to implement new technologies making the grid smarter, safer and more reliable

Q: Q: You’ve enjoyed a long and successful career at Southern California Edison. How were you originally inspired to do this work?

A: I was working at a firm that did marketing and sales programs. I had designed a program for Edison to do energy efficiency. We had presented that to Edison, and Edison turned around and hired me to implement it. It was an unintended outcome, but coming to work for Edison was great, because it is a very large company and there are a lot of opportunities. I was very excited to be there. Read More>

GAYLE WILSON
Former First Lady of California, and Trustee, Society for Science and the Public

She has enjoyed a remarkable life and career, from serving as First Lady of California to establishing a math and science educational enrichment program for high school students. Gayle Wilson was a biology major at Stanford, and has had a longtime interest in science education. An advocate for student research opportunities and science and math education, she serves as a trustee and executive member of the Society for Science and the Public, an organization that inspired her as a high school student. She is a founder of the San Diego chapter of Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS), and COSMOS, the California State Summer School for Math & Science.

MARY KIGHT

California National Guard

She was the first woman in the role of Adjutant General of the California National Guard, and the nation’s first African-American, female adjutant general. Major General Mary J. Kight served as Director of the State of California’s Military Department and led the largest, most tasked National Guard force in the United States, with an authorized strength of 18,000 Army National Guard and 4,900 Air National Guard members. She began her military career in the Air Force in 1974, and joined the Cal Guard in 1984.

California’s Heritage: Shaping the New California
Los Angeles

Session II offers CIT Classmembers a look at Californians past, present and future with perspectives from a historian, a demographer and a futurist. Experts on diversity and leadership styles review key strategies. Healthcare leaders and a panel of women leaders from various backgrounds share their career trajectories. A field trip takes us back in time.


Conversations on Diversity: "Diversity Competence: Getting Off Our Eggshells" will be presented by Kay Iwata, who will open up a discussion on what organizations can do to build diversity into work relationships. She's one of more than a dozen speakers who will engage the class at Session II.

Patricia has spent her legal and business professional career negotiating and closing large technology contracts, revenue-generating deals and strategic corporate transactions for HDS, Sun, Symantec, Kellogg and an SRI technology start-up.

She has led a chapter of Symantec’s Women’s Action Network and is Chair of its philanthropy committee. She is on the Board of the Friends of the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women, a member of the Queen’s Bench Committee on Domestic Violence, and has led a mentoring program for at Juvenile Hall.

Patricia manages a team of 50 and a budget of $26 million, and is tasked with talent development, business resiliency, safety and supplier diversity. She has recently celebrated 35 years of service at SCE.

Patricia has served in numerous community organizations including the Boys and Girls Club, a youth science program, a foster parenting organization, a violence prevention foundation, a youth motivation task force, and the United Negro College Fund. She has been a foster parent to more than 25 children. 

 
Kathe Córdova

Kathe promotes positive relationships with key business customers, overseeing a team of account executives and furthering customer adoption of energy efficiency. Her strengths include marketing, strategic planning and implementation. Kathe has extensive experience in the utility regulatory arena and has served as a Regulatory Manager for both SDG&E and SoCalGas.

Kathe formerly held positions as head of a medical records consulting company and as an international banking officer. She was a Spanish language major at Universidad de Concepcion, Chile, and earned a degree in Economics from UCLA.

Cynthia is currently employed with TELACU (subcontracted by Parsons Brinkerhoff International) as a Liaison between California’s largest public school district and the California Department of General Services, Division of the State Architect. She is responsible for providing leadership, direction and management of project negotiations that have led to efforts toward modernization to increase class sizes for public school construction projects within a portfolio valued at $6 billion.

In addition to her professional work, she is a tireless advocate for women through her “She Rocks” program and conferences, with themes such as She Rocks Her Community, She Rocks the Fight Against Cancer, She Rocks Her Talent.

 

Eileen Fry-Bowers

Loma Linda University


Eileen Fry-Bowers holds academic appointments in the School of Nursing and the School of Public Health, where she directs the Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Leadership program. In this role, she works with local governments and nonprofits and with student interns; develops curriculum; works with accreditation and certification organizations; and teaches health care law, public health law, and conflict management and negotiation courses. She also teaches graduate courses in health policy at the School of Nursing.

Eileen is a member of the California State Bar, a registered nurse and certified pediatric nurse practitioner. She served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps and is decorated veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. She is now completing her Ph.D. in health services at UCLA School of Nursing.

 

Carla Musser
Manager, Policy, Government & Public Affairs
Chevron

Carla's responsibilities include managing government relations, media communications, internal communications, and community relations. She develops and implements strategies to help Chevron become most admired for its people, partnerships, and performance. Carla has 30 years of experience in the petroleum industry, having served in several leadership positions in human resources at Chevron.

Carla holds a bachelors degree in business administration from the University of LaVerne. She is a certified Senior Professional Human Resources with the Human Resources Certificate Institute, and a member of the Public Relations Society of America.
